Behind the Food

Kristina Preka is a food stylist and recipe developer based in New York City. She cooks a wide constellation of foods and is deeply passionate about dynamic flavors. Kristina firmly believes that food is personal and she works carefully and diligently to respect the preferences of others. When she is not perfecting a recipe in the test kitchen or styling on set, Kristina can be found exploring around the city—collecting house-plants to add to the botanical garden she calls her apartment and seeking out new restaurants where she will probably order more food than she is actually capable of sampling.

Born in Albania, Kristina moved to Greece at 4 years old and then to the United States when she was 8, settling in the state of Connecticut for some reason. In October of 2010 she went off to school at the Culinary Institute of America, graduating in January of 2014 and almost immediately moving to Portland, Oregon where she worked under Naomi Pomeroy. After moving back to New York in the summer of 2015, Kristina worked for Eleven Madison Park, Tasting Table (in the capacity of the Associate Food Editor), and The Culinistas.

A snarky and stiff bohemian Brooklynite with a charming brain that is made out of cheese.
